Greenville, Winterville, Farmville, and
Surrounding Communities are home to East Carolina University, Pitt
County Memorial Hospital, Thriving Industries, Pitt Community
College, Many Churches of Diverse Denominations, Plenty of
Restaurants, and the East Carolina Chess Club. Greenville is right
on the Tar River, about 1 1/2 hours from the coast, and only a few
hours away from the mountains of Virginia, West Virginia and
Carolina.

Carolina University
From modest beginnings as a school for training teachers, ECU
has grown for over a century to become an emerging national
research university with an enrollment of nearly 28,000
students. East Carolina offers 104 bachelor's degree
programs, two educational specialist degree programs, two
certificates of advanced studies programs, 73 master's degree
programs, 18 doctoral degree programs, and first-professional
degree programs in medicine and dentistry. With a mission of
teaching, research, and service, East Carolina University is a
dynamic institution connecting people and ideas, finding
solutions to problems, and seeking the challenges of the future.
ECU is also a great resource for college athletics and first
class theater and the arts.
The
East Carolina Heart Center at Pitt County Memorial Hospital
Our state of the art heart center specifically designed to meet
the needs of patients from around the world is right next to
Pitt County Memorial Hospital which is the flagship hospital for
University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina and serves as the
teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East
Carolina University. Pitt Memorial is a regional resource for
all levels of health services and information.
Pitt
Community College
The mission of Pitt Community College is to educate and empower
people for success through learning. Pitt Community College
seeks to establish positive learning environments that encourage
academic excellence for all students. In March, 1961, Pitt
Community College was chartered and designated by the State
Board of Education as an industrial education center. Today,
Pitt Community College offers 44 associate degree programs,
numerous certificate programs, 22 diploma programs, and 18
University Transfer programs. The College has expanded its
instruction to include more than 200 classes via the internet,
classes via the NC Information Highway, telecourses, and
community-based classes
